The Best of Joy Division: Long-Dead-Horse-Flogging-Bar Raised Yet Further

Just when you thought Morrissey's 'new' 'best of' was the most severely flogged equine carcass you'd ever found still being flogged in a massive crater in a musical desertcaused solely by flog-fallout, guess what's being released now?

The Best of Joy Division.

Straplines:

a) For all those Joy Division fans who loved Joy Division, but never felt any of the previous 9 compilations (nine) really ordered the tracks from Joy Division's 2 (two) albums in the correct order, here is The Best of Joy Division

b) For all those The Wombats fans who loved 'Let's dance to Joy Division' but aren't yet sure what "irony" is, here is The Best of Joy Division.

c) For all those poor fools who think that the best way to show their appreciation of a dead artist's work is by slavishly spunking cash at any relative product that's pumped into the market regardless of the need for the product being miscalculated and/or studiously ignored, here is The Best of Joy Division.

d) For all the people who have been reminded by the recent smash billboard thumping chart-topper award-winning (probably) moviefilm 'Control' just what an important band Joy Division were, but who for whatever reason can't be arsed to wade through Joy Division's massive two (2) album history, or even, ask their dad, their mate, or their fucking dog which are Joy Division's best songs ('Ceremony', 'Love will tear us apart', 'Atrocity exhibition', 'Day of the lords' - one of which is included on here), here is The Best of Joy Division.

e) For all those amateur music journalists who've been waiting their whole (short) lives to stand up and be counted as one of the people who think Joy Division were a good thing, and that bands like British Sea Power, Editors and (erm...) New Order would probably have never existed without them just to prove their credentials, or perhaps even to mercilessly slate the compilation for its poor track oredering and bizarre collection of live tracks or even omition of their favourite demo ('Ceremony') or even to question the inclusion of an interview with Ian Curtis (for Christ's sake go and interview a vampire or something), here is The Best of Joy Division.

I'm sorry, what was the question?

Incidentally, there's a great track on the new The Indelicates album called 'If Jeff Buckley Had Lived', which I think anybody considering purchasing this The Best of Joy Division album should seriously consider listening to first.

Go on - humour me.
