This years Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions have been a rather more tumultuous affair than usual, with The Sex Pistols refusing to turn up for the ceremony, at which old rifts in Blondie were re-opened. Former members Frank Infante, Nigel Harrison and Gary Valentine went onstage to collect the accolade with Debbie Harry, Clem Burke and Chris Stein, but were hardly acknowleged by their former bandmates.
Rather pathetically, Infante pleaded to be allowed to perform with the band, asking "Debbie, are we allowed?", and was left groaning into the microphone when Harry snapped back "Can't you see my band is up there?"
Later in the ceremony, Rolling Stone honcho Jann Wenner read out the letter that The Sex Pistols had sent the ceremony telling them to cock off, and invited the cranky punks to pick up their trophies and smash them up. OOO!
